Getting to Copenhagen

Copenhagen has only one international airport to fly into: Københavns Lufthavn CPH. The easiest way to reach Copenhagen Central Station (København H in Danish) from the airport is by taking the metro. The journey takes around 13 minutes and costs $3-5. To purchase a metro ticket, go to the red DSB ticket machines located inside the arrivals hall. The Copenhagen Airport's M2 metro line is situated on the first floor of Terminal 3. The red ticket machines accept all major credit cards except for American Express. After buying your ticket, proceed to Track 2 (København H). At the airport metro station, there are two tracks heading into the city center with Vanløse as the final destination. It doesn't matter which metro you take as they all go in the same direction. Remember to buy your ticket before boarding the train or metro, and avoid traveling without a ticket as the fine can be up to $150. *Please note that Uber is not accessible in Denmark.

Renting an apartment or house

AirBnB

Luckily Copenhagen is a manageable city to get around in - wherever you end up staying shouldn't be an issue when traveling to any of our wedding festivities. However, we suggest to stay in the city center "Indre By". If you would like to stay in a hotel, please reach out to us for recommendations. Once you have settled on a place to stay, let us know and we can help with instructions on how to get from the airport to your hotel/Airbnb as well as specific directions to the ceremony and surrounding events.

How to get around in Copenhagen

The main mode of transportation for locals is by bike, otherwise the public transport system is very easy to use. You can go by bus, the S-train, underground metro, rent a car or even walk. You may find it helpful to download the public transport app, called "rejseplanen". This will provide up-to-date timetables and journey planning tools to help you find your way around. When crossing the streets or getting on/off the bus, be mindful of bicyclists. Copenhagen has a significant number of locals who commute by bicycle, so keep an eye out for the wide bicycle lanes. Bicyclists have the right of way, so ensure you yield to them when necessary.

How to get around in Denmark

If you are planning to travel around Denmark after the wedding, it may be helpful to know that Denmark is made up of three main land areas - Jylland, Fyn & SjĂŚlland (where Copenhagen is). These areas can be accessed by bus, train, plane and car. SB is the train company that connects Copenhagen to other areas of Denmark by train, and tickets can be bought here: www.dsb.dk/en

• Several bike rental shops are available throughout the city, and you can easily navigate the well-marked bike lanes. • Visit the famous Nyhavn district. This picturesque waterfront area is lined with colorful buildings, restaurants, and cafes. Enjoy a stroll along the canal or indulge in some Danish cuisine at one of the charming eateries. • Don't miss out on the Tivoli Gardens. Located in the heart of Copenhagen, Tivoli is an amusement park with beautiful gardens, thrilling rides, and lively entertainment. It's a great place to spend a fun-filled day with family and friends. • Explore the art and culture scene at the many museums and galleries in Copenhagen. The National Gallery of Denmark (SMK) and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art are must-visit destinations for art enthusiasts. • Try traditional Danish dishes such as smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches), Danish pastries, and hotdogs from street vendors. Also, make sure to taste the local craft beers and aquavit, a traditional Scandinavian spirit. • If you're feeling adventurous, explore the city by renting a bike. Copenhagen is known for its cycling culture, and it's a great way to experience the city like a local. • It's recommended to get a SIM card during your travel to stay connected. SIM cards are available at the airport, and you can find them at stores like 7-Eleven for around $7. Most stores in Copenhagen accept credit cards, so you may not need to carry a lot of cash with you.

Day passes

If you're planning a full day of exploring by train, consider purchasing a City Pass. This pass offers unlimited travel on buses, trains, and the metro within central Copenhagen for a specific duration of time. For a comprehensive sightseeing experience and access to over 80 attractions, consider getting the "Copenhagen Card." This card includes unlimited transportation and free transport to/from the airport, making it convenient for travelers. The price for the Copenhagen Card is around $67.
